London Olympics heralds major security operation

With the London Olympic Games commencing on 27th July excitement is starting to rise in the UK and around the world at the arrival of such a huge and prestigious sporting event. The venues are all complete, tickets are selling well and the capitals businesses are looking forward to a busy period. However along with all the excitement the event will bring some problems along with an estimated cost of over £11 billion. Perhaps the biggest of these problems is the associated security risk.

The London Olympics will see the biggest mobilisation of security and military personnel in the UK since the Second World War with a total of up to 50,000 people involved in the security operation. This will include 13,500 military personnel. This army of security staff will be backed by an impressive array of hardware including unmanned drones, surface to air missiles, Typhoon fighter aircraft, 55 dog patrol teams and an 11 mile long 5,000 volt electric security fence.

An amazing range of new technology will be used in the security operation. London will be having a range of new scanning devices, bio-metric ID cards, number and facial recognition CCTV systems, disease tracking systems, extra police control centres and security checkpoints in key zones of the city.

So what does all this extra security and the arrival of the Olympic Games mean for your business? Well as well as hopefully a rise in business activity in London, it means it is also well worth considering your own security arrangements. Major events often bring about an increase in the levels of crime. Most reputable and approved security companies will offer a free consultation to advise you on how to enhance your business security. This can include adding CCTV, alarm systems, access control systems, fire protection and Redcare.

A professional and approved security company will be able to visit your premises, assess your current security systems, identify any risks and then recommend the right security systems to keep your business safe both during the Olympics and into the future. CCTV and alarm systems will act as a deterrent to those determined the use the Games as cover for criminal activity. An access control system will enable you to keep unwanted intruders out of the building. Most importantly, get the right security system to fulfil your business security needs.
